Does Exor operator panels supports the connection with Siemens S5 plc family?

What to know

The UniOP Designer operator panels family support the connection with Siemens S5 plc family, using the SimaticS5 communication protocol.

The operator panels have a dedicated Current Loop 20 mA interface on the PLC port that allows the direct connection with the PLC.

What stated above is valid with some exceptions listed below:

  • eTOP300 series
  • ePAD0x series
  • eTOP02/02C
  • eTOP03
  • eTOP04C

These units allows the connection but does not have a Current Loop 20mA interface so it's required to use:

  • an "external Current Loop - RS232 converter" for the communication with the PLC;
  • an adapter cable for the connection of the panel's RS232 interface. Assuming that the RS232 pinout of the "external Current Loop - RS232 converter" follows the standard of PC serial ports, the adapter cables to be used for connection with the panel are:

CA081-D9 CA081-D9 - For eTOP300 series (connection to PLC or PC/Printer port of the panel)

CA081-1 CA081 - For ePAD0x, eTOP02/02C, eTOP03 and eTOP04C (connection to PLC port of the panel)

For further information regarding the connection of UniOP Designer family operator panels to Siemens S5 PLCs we suggest to refer to the apposite Simatic S5 communication protocol technical note TN274-0
